The Harmonizing Sounds of Nature—Gandharva Veda—is Total Knowledge Based Music

Music has a beautiful role in unifying creation: Life is full of differences but to give upsurge to harmony and unity in the midst of all differences is the purpose of studying music and thereby developing life to be musical. — Maharishi

Vocal sounds based on complete Knowledge of music are able to bring coherence into any situation, for they have such an integrating and harmonious effect, they help to bring the atmosphere into balance by relieving stress; bringing fullness, inner strength, harmony and bliss into life.

Scientific results

Studies have been conducted on the influence of Gandharva Veda music on consciousness, behavior, physiology, and the environment. Beneficial effects are present even if no-one is listening, and are irrespective of one’s personal musical background, taste, or subjective experience.
The balancing sounds of Gandharva Veda create a positive influence in the atmosphere. By playing Gandharva Veda music at home or in the workplace 24 hours a day, even when no one is present, stress is neutralized and an influence of harmony and coherence is produced.

An integrated brain is a predictor of success in any field.

Interestingly, both professional and amateur musicians show greater brain integration, comparable to world-class athletes, top managers, (or even peaceful, resilient police officers, and flexible and original creative thinkers). Long-term practice of TM develops even higher levels of brain Integration.

Statement from Master of Vedic Science students at Maharishi University of Management

We have both been professionally trained in Western Classical Music since we were in grade school and have had the privilege of studying with prestigious European, Japanese and American teachers at performance preparatory schools and at one of the top American music conservatories. After arriving at Maharishi University of Management we were overjoyed to come across a master of Gandharva flute, Mr. Binay Krishna Baral. Sitting with Mr. Baral and receiving a truly heart to heart instruction of music is experiencing music in its purest form, as the vibrations of nature and as the divine, devotional songs of creation.

Our lessons of Gandharva Veda flute is the experience of the most pure expression of music and the process of instruction and the knowledge that comes from Mr. Binay are the very basis for the full development of the musician. Mr. Baral fully nurtures the student so that each lesson is much more than receiving this knowledge. We hope to convey our deepest love and gratitude for Mr. Baral, our yearning for the connection to music has been fulfilled and now there is pure enjoyment of the process with no more angst for results or perfection.

Everything in the universe is in perfect harmony with everyone, and infinite diversity with infinite dynamism moving around; but there is a rhythm, there is a flow, there is an order in the rhythmic patterns of the evolutionary process in the universe. — Maharishi
